To celebrate the dual success of 25 years in business and an equally long and distinguished association with Indian seafarers, Eurasia held and sponsored its first National Maritime Quiz Competition, open to all seafarers resident in India. Preliminary rounds were held online, with successful entrants winning through to The Grande Finale at the Grand Maratha Sheraton Hotel, Mumbai, on February 2nd. Capt. P.H. Shivaram won the prestigious prize containing a purse of Rs.51,000. The first runner up Capt. Rakesh Malhotra and the second runner up Mr. Prasad Godbole won Rs. 41,000 and 31,000 respectively. Mr. Kamalkant Sharma, the fourth participant was awarded a consolation prize. The victorious participants held trophies and certificates of participations.Three hundred of the shipping industry's most pre-eminent members attended The Grande Finale, an event which served to draw the public gaze upon the excellent work the shipping industry performs. “The objective of this competition was to draw seafarers' attention towards the multi-coloured hues of the industry they serve and away from the normal business routine. It also drew the focus of the media on the shipping industry in general to showcase the excellent work we all perform,” said Mr Rajaish Bajpaee, President and Group Managing Director, Eurasia Group of Companies.“At Eurasia we are very proud of our success over the past 25 years and appreciate the key role our seafarers have played throughout that time. Several long-standing Eurasia employees attended the event to receive Long-Service Awards from Mr Bajpaee.“I would like to thank everybody who has contributed to the past 25 years of success,” Mr Bajpaee said. “We hope this quiz has shaken, if not stirred, the minds of the shipping community in India. We hope the event will become a must-have institution in years to come.”
