Capt. Surender Singh is presently sailing with Selandia on LPG Tankers. He is proud of his profession and also an entrepreneur who wants a flourishing business for his wife at Navi Mumbai. Travelling across the Globe, he and his wife came across the idea of a Traveling Agency that provides specialized and personalized Travel and Tour Services to shipping companies and professionals alike.
Like a Good Husband, Whenever Capt. Sudernder is ashore, he helps his wife in her business. Capt. Surender Singh and Jyoti Singh are a perfect couple made for each other.
Jab We Met
I met Jyoti during my college time, I was doing my BSc and she was doing her B.A. We got married after I passed my 2nd mates.
Positive trend among seafarers now a days
The old ships were not exposed to things like internet etc, But now the new coming generation is aware about all aspects of shipping and as well as other industries. Communication has really made our life faster. It is very much required to motivate young seafarers as there is huge shortage of seafarers. Even shorter contracts have led to Seafarers liking their Career More.
PROUD TO BE A MARINER
Whatever I am is just because of sea. I could help my wife to start her business, I could give better education to my daughter, all this I could achieve is all because of the good money earned at sea. When I am at home I give all my time to my wife and daughter and My Parents in Jaipur. So Quality of Life as a Seafarer is quite enviable.
Business Setup
I started my career with Travel industry and I have been associated with the industry for about 15 years. Whenever Surender was here at shore, we hardly use to get anytime due to my hectic work schedule. All of sudden Surender initiated an idea of having own business where I can utilize my experience and grow myself for a long term career.
The name “Sailor Travel & Tours”
My sailing days with surrender were the best days of my life. Moreover the idea to start this business was suggested by a Surender who is really proud of his profession.
Finally the conclusion of our ideas was to have a name where I can utilize my experience and talent and also be a part of Shipping profession. The name “Sailor Travels and Tours” was the best combination.
Newcomer Entrepreneur
Any New Business is hard for Newcomers whether they are male or female.I think now a lot of girls are even choosing sailing as their career, so I don't think there are any serious hurdles for woman in any industry. Where there is a will there is a way. Normally starting a business requires funds, I utilized my savings and Surender also helped me to overcome all the financial challenges.
Future plans
I have few shipping companies as my client even at this stage. I always wanted to associate myself with the shipping industry. I look forward to have some reputed shipping companies as my clients. I would prefer to be associated with shipping industry then any other industry.
Proud of a captain's wife
Shipping Professionals are the prime moving force in the world economy and we feel happy to have made a contribution to growth of Maritime Industries in India.
All that hard work of years has made our life stable and easy going. Ofcourse this is something to feel proud of. I am very happy to be a captain's wife.
