Fleet Management Training Institute had conducted a One-Day Workshop on 4th August, 2007 titled Soft Skills for Trainee Officers. The workshop was conducted by Mr. T K Rajendren, who is presently working in BARC, Mumbai as a Training Engineer in HRD.

The workshop covered the topics like Communication, Goal Setting, and Time Management. The workshop consisted of many practical exercises along with power point presentations. The workshop was attended by 11 Junior officer including one Fourth Engineer, eight TMEs and two Deck Cadets at FMTI. The objective of the Workshop was to reinforce the soft skills of junior officers who are about to embark on their sea career.

The workshop was very much appreciated by all the participants who promised to put their newly acquired skills into practice in their daily personal and professional lives. The faculty was very much pleased with the arrangements at FMTI and the enthusiasm and the degree of participation of the young budding would-be officers, which was evident from the interactions. It was requested by the participants that more such workshops should be conducted in future on different soft skills. The participants and the faculty felt that each topic warrants one full day to be covered satistactorily.
