
The evening of the 29th June 07 was witness to the passing out of the second IGNOU Pre Sea batch from Tolani Maritime Institute.
Present at this grand event were the proud parents of 113 deck cadets, who after year of training at TMI were ready to begin their seafaring career. Also present were the faculty and staff responsible for grooming these juvenile men and imparting them with knowledge and professional skills that will prove to be of great worth during their stint at sea.
To grace the occasion were Capt.Saggi, Nautical Advisor to the Government of India, the chief guest and other dignitaries ,who made it to the event, in spite of the adverse weather conditions that prevailed that evening!
The event started off with Capt. Krishnamurthy Iyer(Program chair Nautical Technology) taking the podium to present the course report..
Capt.Khare addressed the gathering next and with his years of experience behind him, he gave the pass outs a few important pointers that would enable them excel in the professional careers.
The event had a rather personal touch to it, with each and every deck cadet was introduced and presented with certificate. The best part was yet to come, the unofficial course report, which was a presentation replete with clippings and pictures taken by the cadets themselves over their year long stay. It was a collage of the emotions, bonding and learning experience that they had witnessed during the course of their training.
Capt.Saggi concluded by wishing the cadets ”a foot of water under the keel!”

The passing out deck cadets, full of enthusiasm and fortitude showed their appreciation towards the faculty and cherished the facilities provided by the institute.
